Eminem and Snoop Dogg bring NFT Bored Ape to the VMAs

“Rap stars” Eminem and Snoop Dogg will perform the MV “From the D 2 The LBC” with the appearance of famous NFT Bored Ape at the MTV’s Video Music Awards (VMAs) on August 28.

In addition to the vibrant metaverse space at the awards ceremony, the VMAs added the “Best Metaverse Performance” category to its annual awards. Award nominations include popular artists such as Justin Bieber, Rift Tour (both Ariana Grande) and Twenty One Pilots.

The VMAs expect that the application of the metaverse at this big event can increase the number of followers. After peaking at 12.4 million viewers in 2011, that number has steadily declined for eight consecutive years. Most recently, only 900,000 people remained watching the event live on MTV.

On the morning of June 24, two “kings of rap” Snoop Dogg and Eminem released a new MV titled “From the D 2 The LBC”. In particular, in this video, two famous NFT Bored Ape appeared.

Since its release, the “From the D to the LBC” music video has been a notable success for rappers promoting BAYC’s NFT image. The YouTube video has garnered over 46 million views and a “Best Hip-Hop” VMA nomination for the song. On Spotify, this song has also earned nearly 25 million streams.

The performance on August 28 marked the return of Em’s VMAs after 12 years and Snoop’s after 17 years. During his illustrious rapping career, Eminem has won 13 VMAs and 60 nominations. That makes him the second most nominated VMA artist behind Madonna, who received 69 noms.

Besides, Snoop also received 13 VMA nominations and won three. Recently, the artist appeared in an EDM single called BAYC by Esther Anaya, in an animated video by Bored Apes and other works.
