On September 12, blockchain Polygon confirmed that it will cooperate with Starbucks coffee company to open the NFT Starbucks Odyssey reward program.
According to the announcement of Polygon, Starbucks Rewards loyalty program members, partners and employees of the coffee company in the US will have the opportunity to collect digital stamp sets in the form of NFT.
In addition, users have access to a “premium coffee experience”, from unique products, “meet” partner artists to exclusive event tickets. Thanks to the Polygon network, they can enjoy these “one-of-a-kind” experiences with low fees and high transaction speeds.
According to TechCrunch, customers will join Starbucks’ journey through interactive games and challenges. These challenges are designed to give customers more information about Starbucks in particular and coffee in general. After completing the “trip”, the user will be given an NFT or “journey stamp”.
The program is expected to launch later this year. However, as of September 12, Starbucks devotees can sign up for the experience’s waiting list (here). Sandeep Nailwal, co-founder of Polygon, announced that he will accompany Starbucks into the world of Web3.
“Polygon is a leading infrastructure provider that enables people to collaborate and exchange value globally freely. We will provide the ideal launch pad for Starbucks to join Web3,” said Nailwal.
On the Starbucks side, the coffee giant is likely to make an announcement about Starbucks Odyssey during its investor presentation. The event took place on September 13.
Ryan Butz, Starbucks Vice President of Strategy and Marketing, revealed the company looked at multiple blockchains before deciding to “shake hands” with Polygon.
“Building Starbucks Odyssey prioritized the use of technology that met our sustainability criteria. We carefully considered which blockchain was environmentally friendly and low-cost. Polygon was the perfect choice. “, Butz shared.
The initiatives of the two companies aim to make NFT more widely available to the public. Polygon is currently the foundation for many leading Web3 projects today such as Aave, Uniswap V3, NFT marketplace OpenSea and Lazy.com. Not stopping there, Polygon is also chosen by a number of popular brands, typically Adobe, Stripe and Dolce Gabbana, as a place to publish their NFT projects.
