Users who try to access the websites of electronic exchanges are faced with the message “500 Internal Server Error” caused by the Cloudflare issue.
However, at the time of writing, Cloudflare said that the company had successfully patched the issue, the issues were resolved.
Cloudflare, a provider of critical infrastructure for the Internet, recently experienced widespread issues that shut down many crypto exchanges.
The Content Delivery Network (CDN) confirmed through an update posted Tuesday that it is experiencing issues with its services and network, and a fix is currently being rolled out. However, the company has yet to provide information on what happened, causing services worldwide to halt operations.
Cryptocurrency exchange FTX tweeted that its platform and other websites will be difficult to access for many, while also claiming that the exchange will be limited to “post-only”.
Cryptocurrency exchanges Bitfinex and OKEx have also tweeted about the issue, then questioning whether the Web3 solution will replace it in the future.
OKX CEO jay_star.lens announced about Cloudflare’s incident affecting his exchange.
Cloudflare, which went public about three years ago, provides the web infrastructure for businesses, allowing them to publish documents online. The infrastructure also provides security services, including protection against distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks.
A special point is that although most exchanges are facing obstacles, Binance is not affected. Binance CEO CZ explained that the reason Binance is still “standing” is because the platform is “decentralized”. Binance has a backup system for bad cases to ensure the progress of users’ transactions.
This is not the first time the Cloudfare outage has caused ripples in the crypto world. In August 2020, a similar incident caused Bitfinex and other major websites to shut down.
In addition to crypto exchanges, other websites and apps such as Indian brokerages Zerodha and Upstox, as well as media platform Discord, all stopped working with the “500 Internal Server Error” error.
